Doug Shefelbine's Orchard, Holmen, WI, was the next stop on day one of the Honeycrisp Tour. Shefelbine was very entrepreneurial -- here he displays masking tape in one hand and surveyors flags in another. Both were used to tie and hold branches in place, on younger and older trees respectively. Shefelbine is also evaluating over 90,000 apple seedlings, mostly open pollinated, looking for the next apple cultivar that will make an impact like Honeycrisp.
